Guardrail Pounder Truck
A single-axle 2015 Peterbilt PB337 carrying a GRT Utilicorp self-contained hydraulic post driver — a purpose-built rig for setting guardrail and sign posts on highway and DOT work. Cummins power up front, a proven GRT pounder unit on the deck, and 126,953 miles on the chassis.
The pounder unit is built by GRT Utilicorp, Inc., a family-owned manufacturer in Wooster, Ohio that has been building post-driving and drilling equipment for roughly four decades. Their self-contained post drivers are designed for guardrail and highway crews, driving steel and wood posts with a hydraulic drop hammer and pulling posts with a heavy-duty extractor cylinder.
Mounted on the Peterbilt’s deck, this setup gives a crew a self-contained, drive-up solution for installing and removing guardrail posts in the field.
